Gay hook-up app Grindr has removed ethnicity filters to highlight their support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Grindr tweeted the announcement on Monday as Black Lives Matter activists declared a day of “Black Out” on social media, and far-left riots in support of the movement continue to ravage dozens of American cities.

“We will not be silent. Black Lives Matter,” the company wrote on Twitter.

They gave a full statement in the image attached to the tweet.

“We stand in solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the hundreds of thousands of queer people of colour who log in to our app every day,” it statement said. “We will not be silent, and we will not be inactive.”

Grindr announced that it would now be funding the violent Black Lives Matter movement, which along with the Antifa network is currently participating in an insurrection against the government of the United States.

“Today we are making donations to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute and Black Lives Matter, and urge you to do the same if you can,” Grindr added.

“We will continue to fight racism on Grindr, both through dialogue with our community and a zero-tolerance policy for racism and hate speech on our platform.”

Grindr then announced that in order to support Black Lives Matter, it will be banning people from filtering by ethnicity on the app. It did not explain how exactly this would help in saving black lives.

“As part of this commitment, and based on your feedback, we have decided to remove the ethnicity filter from our next release,” Grindr concluded.

According to research, individuals on both gay and straight hook-up apps prefer to meet with white people over non-whites. On straight apps, Asian, Indian and Arab men in particular tend to be significantly less popular than white men.

However, on both gay and straight apps, black men still get relatively high levels of attention when compared to other non-white ethnic groups. In order to continue playing the victim, many of them consequently go on to claim that sexual attraction to them is also racism, describing it as racial “fetishization“, where prospective sexual partners revere certain physical attributes of a particular race.
