A Kentucky family is under house arrest and will be forced to wear ankle monitors after refusing to sign self-quarantine papers when one of them tested positive for COVID-19.

Wave3 reported that Elizabeth Linscott was tested for COVID-19 before visiting her family in Michigan. Linscott, who had no symptoms of any illness, to her surprise, tested positive for COVID-19.

Linscott said that after testing positive, the health department contacted her and asked her to sign self-quarantine documents limiting her travel unless she contacts them beforehand.

She refused to sign the “Self-isolation and Controlled Movement Agreed Order” document and was treated to a subsequent visit from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department.

Her husband Isaiah was at home when the Sheriff’s Department paid them a visit accompanied by a mask-clad member of the health department.

Isaiah said, ”I open up the door and there’s like eight different people, five different cars, and I’m like what the heck’s going on? This guy’s in a suit with a mask, it’s the health department guy and he has three different papers for us. For me, her and my daughter.”

The family was given ankle monitors and ordered to remain in their homes, despite insisting to authorities that the family intended to self quarantine, but merely disagreed with the paperwork requiring them to do so.

Despite their intentions, if the family strays further than 200 feet from their home, law enforcement are to be notified.

”That’s exactly what the Director of the Public Health Department told the judge, that I was refusing to self-quarantine because of this and that was not the case at all,” Linscott said when explaining the family’s position on self-quarantining. Linscott reiterated, “I never said that.”
