A teacher in Wuhan has claimed that citizens of the quarantined city may be deliberately infecting each other as the death toll of the Coronavirus continues to rise.

In the quarantined city, where the outbreak of the deadly virus began, teacher Jessika Bailing, 23, says she has only left her apartment twice in the past fortnight to carry out dreaded supply runs amid mass panic.

Speaking to Metro, she said: “We are all so scared to go outside, I avoided it for as long as I could.

“The first time I went out was for a dentist appointment, but when I arrived the entire building was shut down.

“The second time I went to do a supplies run, it was so terrifying. I covered myself from head-to-toe with gloves on my hands, glasses to cover my eyes and of course, my mask.”

Bailing went onto explain the quasi-post-apocalyptic scenes in the city, she said: “As I left, the first thing I noticed was how completely deserted the area looked. I’ve never seen it so empty and lifeless.

“There were about three people on the whole street, which is usually quite busy. I can’t even describe how out of place it all felt.”

She talked about how social trust had fallen and basic supplies were increasingly scarce.

The teacher had heard rumors that prices had risen across other cities experiencing severe travel restrictions.

She continued recounting: “There were a few people in there so it was really difficult to stay the required distance away from each other but everyone had their masks on.

“We’ve been told the virus can stay on objects for some time, so I made sure to wash all of the items I bought from the store, including packets of crisps, bottles of water, chocolate bars and even coffee sachets.

“I also made sure to throw all of the clothes I was wearing in the wash and cleaned my shoes as well as having a shower before entering the rest of my apartment.”

Fear in Wuhan is reaching fever pitch. The prospect of the horrible virus coupled with decreasing food supplies within a quarantined city is worrying locals.

It is believed that some of those infected by the deadly virus are making efforts to contaminate others.

Bailing went onto say:

“Before I didn’t feel any fear and now I would say the virus is definitely my biggest fear. It controls my every move these days, as it does many others.

“I’ve heard shocking stories about infected people going out of their way to contaminate others by taking off their masks and spitting in doctors’ faces.

“I saw one video of a man spitting on all of the buttons in an apartment elevator.”

So far, the deadly Coronavirus has claimed 106 lives. Doctors fear that tens of thousands of people may already be infected.

Confirmed reports of the virus have been made across several countries.

Several countries and airports have begun putting certain Chinese cities on a no fly list.
